​EMPOWERMENT have been retained by a leading EMI-regulated payments firm to identify a high calibre Chief Operations Officer for their Irish Operations. The ideal candidate will have responsibility for all aspects of the operational activity within the Firm, including oversight and management of its partnerships with outsourced providers, both internal and external. As a leader, you will develop and maintain oversight of their payments operations requiring strong cross-functional collaboration and extensive payments experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for operational governance of the licenced entity and payment operations that take place, on our behalf, across the globe.

  • Partner with functional and foundational leads to ensure we safely manage our business and develop key industry relationships with payment networks, banks, and retail interbank payment systems and schemes (Mastercard / VISA).

  • Supporting the Chief Executive Officer and reporting to the Board of Directors of the DAC for the day-to-day operations of the company, including vendor management outsourcing and operational resilience;

  • Owning and maintaining the company's Business Continuity Plan ('BCP'), operational resilience plan and outsourcing (with input from IT, Risk, Compliance and other business units as required)

  • Responsible and accountable for effective application of the outsourcing framework (that is overseen by Risk Management) to include robust and effective challenge of the Intragroup arrangements as well as key external 3rd party providers.

  • Demonstrate thought leadership to implement best practice in running the day-to-day operations of our business with a proactive attitude to driving change and efficiencies.

  • Use your knowledge of payments to turn industry changes and mandates into scoped projects that drive value, maximise functionality and compliance

  • Work cross-functionally with our Product, Business, Compliance, Analytics and Finance teams to develop the global payments strategy

Experience:

  • Business University Degree (or equivalent), and 10+ years of experience working with acquiring, card processing, or disbursements of payments at a technology company, EMI, payment network, or financial institution

  • Experience of leading the operations agenda for your business to drive operational excellence

  • The ability to straddle roles as a product manager, project manager and relationship manager being able to get a strong understanding of all the facets of the business quickly.

  • Superior project management skills with an aptitude in problem solving and decision making.

  • Knowledge or IT/business infrastructures

  • Resourceful and analytical with excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Comfortable negotiating contracts across vendor relationships both internally and externally, to provide value for money for the DAC.
